Mr. Vipul Shah’s journey finds its roots in the hallowed halls of mentorship, guided by his late father, Prabodh Shah, and uncle, Dinesh Shah – revered artisans in the diamond industry. Their passion and skills became the compass guiding young Vipul into the enchanting world of diamonds. As a teenager, he took his first steps into the industry, delving into the intricacies of the diamond trade. This early exposure sparked a flame of passion that would illuminate his path throughout his life.

From the onset, Mr. Shah’s approach was immersive and hands-on. He gained a comprehensive understanding of the diamond trade, mastering every aspect from the ground level up. His learning extended beyond the technical nuances of the product to a profound understanding of the dynamic market forces shaping the industry. This holistic knowledge laid the groundwork for his ambitious vision – a vision to propel the family business, Asian Star, to international prominence. His ambition was fueled by an innate desire to make a global impact, transcending borders and leaving an indelible mark on the global diamond industry.

At the helm of Asian Star, Mr. Vipul Shah’s leadership was characterized by a commitment to building a robust foundation. Strengthening the company’s systems and ensuring financial stability were his priorities. The pivotal moment came in 1996 when Vipul led Asian Star to list on the Bombay Stock Exchange. This strategic move not only marked a significant milestone in the company’s growth trajectory but also opened new avenues for expansion, solidifying its position as an industry leader.

In 1999, Mr. Vipul Shah showcased his visionary foresight by steering Asian Star into the world of jewellery. Recognizing the inherent synergy between diamonds and jewellery crafting, he positioned the company to be not just a diamond manufacturer but a trendsetter in jewellery design and innovation. Leading from the front, Mr. Shah ensured that Asian Star remained at the forefront of industry trends, seamlessly transitioning from diamonds to crafting exquisite jewellery pieces.  

His expertise, passion, and profound knowledge have not gone unnoticed. He was elected as the Chairman of the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) in 2012, solidifying his leadership role within the industry. This position allowed him to focus on positioning India as a premier source for diamonds and jewellery globally. In September 2022, he was re-elected as the chairman, a testament to his sustained dedication and leadership within the industry.
